Industry Figures

Estimates from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicate that 11% of accidents are due to the driver inappropriately departing from their lane while traveling; fatigue contributes to driver error, which is present in the majority of large truck crashes. Drivers having to fight loads is a concern

03.

Motor vehicle collisions are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 1.2 million people worldwide die and 50 million are injured every year due to traffic-related accidents. Traffic accidents result in considerable economic cost, currently estimated at 1-2% of average gross national product ($518 billion globally per year) with Lane Incursions due to driver error as the second leading factor

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which is a branch of the U.S. Department of Transportation, is responsible for maintaining, promoting, and enforcing truck driver safety regulations in the United States. Truck drivers look to these rules and regulations as a guideline for how they should utilize trucking equipment, technology, and any other operational adjustment

05.

How much can a worker injury cost a company? According to the National Safety Council, the average direct cost to a company is $38,000 and $150,000 in indirect costs. An OSHA fine can cost a company up to $7,000 for “minor” infractions, up to $70K for repeat offenders

Unfortunately, there is no standard freight insurance policy that a carrier can purchase and be 100% protected. Freight insurance just doesn’t provide protection against all losses a carrier can be responsible for under the Carmack Amendment or common law. Even more, just because a carrier has a certificate of insurance stating a specified amount of freight insurance, it doesn’t mean that your claim will be covered. Example, one company increased their freight claims from $150,000 to $1.2 million/year; why deal with all that
